Tell me about yourself!
I am a Texan through and through. I was born and raised in the Piney Woods of East Texas and attended college at Texas Tech University on the High Plains of West Texas where I met my lovely wife. We’ve lived in the Dallas area for over 20 years where I have worked primarily in the luxury hotel industry at both the operational and corporate level. Travel is my passion and customer service is my background so I look forward to helping people plan their dream vacations based on my own personal travels and experience.
What was your most memorable vacation?
Every vacation I’ve taken holds a special place for many different reasons but New Zealand sits atop them all. We visited Queenstown on the South Island a few years ago and the awe of the Remarkable Mountain Range, the historical journey of traversing Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak Farm and the breathtaking magnificence of Doubtful Sound still linger in my travel daydreams. We followed up our adventures in New Zealand with a relaxing week in Fiji before our return to the States so it is a vacation that all others must be judged against.
What do you like to do besides work and travel?
I am a voracious reader of all things non-fiction. I love historical works and anything written by Erik Larson, Candice Millard or Neal Bascomb are always at the top of my list. As an East Texas native, I am drawn to the outdoors so hiking, kayaking and anything that keeps me under the sun or stars for hours on end is my heaven. I have also become a collector and aficionado of whiskey over the years so if you are looking for a vacation that includes the distilleries of Scotland and Ireland, I would love to share my favorite drams.
What is your favorite city?
Paris is an unexpected favorite city on my list as I didn’t want to like it before my wife and I first visited in 2015 but we’ve returned 3 times since and the City of Lights holds a high ranking on my list of favorite places. Berlin, London, Dublin, Oia, and Positano also rank very highly in Europe and NYC, Chicago and Whitefish, Montana are favorites here in the States as well. However, I hate to be a homer but Dallas/Fort Worth has my heart in a way that no other metropolitan area can because this is home. The melting pot of culture, vibrant dining scene and genuine hospitality of Texans makes my home the top city on my list every time!
