Privately Guided Castle Journeys Through Scotland
To stay in a castle in Scotland is one thing.
To experience the country through its castles — thoughtfully, privately, and with a natural sense of flow — is something entirely different.
At Sheenco Travel, we design privately guided castle journeys that combine Scotland’s most remarkable historic properties with seamless travel, considered routing, and a deeper connection to place.
From grand estates to intimate historic residences, each stay is carefully selected — not just for the property itself, but for how it fits within your wider journey.
More Than Just Where You Stay
These journeys are not built around accommodation alone.
They are designed to balance:
- exceptional castle stays
- scenic routing through Scotland’s most dramatic landscapes
- time to explore the country beyond the estate walls
Your private driver-guide ensures everything flows effortlessly — allowing you to experience Scotland without the complexity of planning, navigation, or timing.
Designed Around You
Each journey is created from the ground up.
Some clients wish to move at a gentle pace, spending more time within each property. Others prefer to combine multiple regions — from the Highlands to the west coast and beyond.
Journeys can also extend beyond Scotland — seamlessly connecting with Ireland, England, or Wales where desired.
The structure remains the same: considered, flexible, and entirely tailored to you.
Example Castle Journey Through Scotland
This is an illustration of how a privately guided castle journey through Scotland may flow.
Each day has been designed to balance time within exceptional properties with exploration of the landscapes and experiences that surround them.
Every journey we create is tailored from the ground up, so this should be viewed as a guide to what is possible, rather than a fixed itinerary.
Day 1: Crossbasket Castle, East Kilbride, Scotland
Arrive at either Edinburgh or Glasgow Airport. You will be met at arrivals by your Driver/Guide to begin your personal Chauffeur Driven Vacation or as an alternative you can collect your car rental and start a Self Drive Tour. Whatever your mode of transport drive the short distance to Stirling where you can visit Stirling Castle and the William Wallace Monument. After lunch make your way to your own Crossbasket Castle and spend the rest of the day relaxing after your long flight.

Day 2: Barcaldine Castle, Benderloch, Scotland
Today you will drive through some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery. You may like to take a boat trip on Loch Lomond before traveling on through the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park following the shores of the Loch North into the Highlands. Continue on to Oban and spend a pleasant afternoon exploring this seaside town before continuing on to your unique Castle accommodations for the night.

Day 3: Inverlochy Castle, Fort William, Scotland
Get an early start this morning and make your way to Fort William, stopping to admire the scenery in Glencoe en route. Catch the 10am Jacobite Steam Train (aka the Hogwarts Express) from Fort William to Mallaig. Enjoy lunch in Mallaig before catching the return train back to Fort William. From here continue North to your next castle accommodations where we recommend you dine at the world famous Albert and Michel Roux Jr at Inverlochy Castle.

Day 4: Inverlochy Castle, Fort William, Scotland
Today is a day of relaxation to enjoy all that Inverlochy Castle has to offer. If you prefer to take this time to add some optional extras to your tour, we will be happy to arrange this for you. The Jacobite Steam train (made famous as “The Hogwarts Express”) runs from Fort William daily, or if you are looking for something more active, Achnacarry Sporting and Country Pursuits offer a wide range of options. Tonight, you will dine independently. Additional dining options are available in Fort William, a short taxi ride away from Inverlochy Castle.

Day 5: Glengarry Castle, Invergarry, Scotland
Take a day trip to the Isle of Skye. Visit Eilean Donan Castle before crossing the land bridge over the sea to Skye. Explore the beautiful Armadale peninsula and visit Armadale Castle and gardens, the home of Clan MacDonald. From here you can choose to retrace the same road home or catch the ferry back to the mainland – the latter option will give you a chance to see the Glenfinnan Viaduct which you will have crossed over while on the Jacobite Steam Train.

Day 6: Kincraig Castle, Ivergordon, Scotland
Travel further North into the Highlands – today will take you along the Shores of Loch Ness. Stop to visit Urquhart Castle and the Loch Ness Center at Drumnadrochit. Stop off in Inverness to explore the Capital of the Highlands. The end of the day will find you “further up and further in” at Kincraig Castle.

Day 7: Dalmunzie Castle, Moffat, Scotland
Time to head South once more. Travel back through Inverness and stop off at Culloden Battlefield to experience the incredible visitor center located there. From here you will enjoy a beautiful drive through the Cairngorms National Park to your next castle accommodations.

Day 8: Cringletie Estate, Peebles, Scotland
This morning visit Blair Castle and the Edradour Distillery before heading on to your final Castle Accommodations. Enjoy a relaxing evening getting ready for your flight home.

Day 9: Depart Scotland for Home
Your driver/guide will get you to the airport in plenty of time for your return flight home or if you are on a Self Drive Tour be sure to allow plenty of time to return your car.

What This Illustrates
This example reflects how a castle-focused journey through Scotland can be structured — combining exceptional places to stay with a natural and unhurried travel flow.
In practice, every itinerary is tailored to you.
Castle selection, routing, pace, and experiences are all adjusted based on how you want to travel — whether that means fewer moves with longer stays, adding private experiences, or incorporating additional destinations.
The result is a journey that feels both immersive and effortless.
Extending Your Time in Edinburgh
Edinburgh offers a natural extension to a castle journey — providing contrast between Scotland’s grand estates and its most historic city.
Time here might include:
- Exploring the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle
- Visiting hidden historic sites such as Mary King’s Close
- Experiencing Scotland’s whisky heritage
- Attending seasonal events such as the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo
It is a fitting way to conclude your journey — adding depth, culture, and atmosphere.
What Is Included
Every privately guided castle journey includes:
- Carefully selected castle accommodations throughout
- Daily breakfast
- A dedicated private driver-guide or tailored self-drive route

Investment Guide
As each castle journey through Scotland is designed from the ground up, pricing varies depending on length of stay, level of accommodation, and overall complexity.
As a guide, most journeys begin from approximately $10,000 per person, based on luxury castle stays, private driver-guides, and a thoughtfully designed itinerary.
Exclusive-use properties, peak season travel, and additional experiences will naturally increase this investment.
Begin with a Conversation
Every journey begins with a conversation.
From there, we design a Scotland experience that reflects how you want to travel — thoughtfully planned, seamlessly delivered, and entirely your own.
