Castles & Historic Stays Across Ireland
Stay in exceptional castles and heritage properties, carefully selected and seamlessly integrated into your journey.
Ireland’s castles are not simply places to stay — they are part of the experience.
At Sheenco Travel, we incorporate a selection of Ireland’s most distinguished castle and heritage properties into privately guided journeys, ensuring each stay complements the overall flow of your itinerary.
From grand five-star estates to more intimate historic residences, each property is chosen for its character, setting, and sense of place.
More Than a Stay
Each castle offers something different.
Some are expansive estates with a full range of activities — from falconry and golf to lakeside experiences and fine dining. Others provide a quieter, more intimate setting, where the emphasis is on atmosphere and heritage.
Your journey is designed to balance these experiences, ensuring variety without disruption.
Designed Around the Journey
Castles are not selected in isolation.
They are positioned carefully within your itinerary — aligned with your route, pace, and the experiences surrounding them.
Your private driver-guide manages each transition seamlessly, allowing you to arrive, settle, and experience each property properly.
Example Castle Journey Through Ireland
This is an illustration of how a castle-focused journey may flow. Every itinerary is designed from scratch.
Day 1: Waterford Castle, Waterford, Ireland
Arrive in Dublin, where your private driver-guide will meet you on arrival and accompany you throughout your journey.
As you travel south, there is time to pause en route — perhaps in Kilkenny for a relaxed lunch and a visit to the castle — before continuing to your first stay at Waterford Castle, set on its own private island.
The remainder of the day is left to settle in and unwind after your journey.
Day 2: Ballyseede Castle, Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland
Your journey continues west toward County Kerry.
Along the way, you may choose to stop at Blarney Castle and its gardens, or simply enjoy a more direct route depending on your pace.
Arrive at Ballyseede Castle, where you will spend two nights. The afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy the property and its surroundings.
Day 3: Ballyseede Castle, Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland
Today is designed around your preference.
You may choose to explore the Ring of Kerry, taking in its coastal scenery and villages, or opt for the Dingle Peninsula — often quieter, but equally striking.
There is no need to rush. Your driver-guide will shape the day around your pace and interests.

Day 4: Dromoland Castle, Co. Clare, Ireland
Leaving Kerry, travel north toward County Clare.
A stop in Adare offers an opportunity to pause for lunch or a short stroll through the village before continuing on to Dromoland Castle.
Arrive in time to enjoy the estate — whether that’s a walk through the grounds, time at leisure, or making use of the castle’s facilities.

Day 5: Glenlo Abbey, Co. Galway, Ireland
This morning, travel along the west coast.
You may choose to visit the Cliffs of Moher before continuing through the Burren, a unique limestone landscape with its own quiet beauty.
Arrive at Glenlo Abbey, just outside Galway, where you will spend the next two nights.
We highly recommend dinner in the historic carriages of the Pullman Restaurant, recently awarded it’s first Michelin Star.

Day 6: Glenlo Abbey, Co. Galway, Ireland
Today is intentionally unstructured, allowing you to choose how you would like to experience the region.
You may wish to spend time exploring Galway, take a walk along the coast, or simply enjoy the setting of the estate.
Alternatively, you can travel to the coast and take a ferry to the Aran Islands, where traditional island life and dramatic scenery offer a very different perspective on Ireland.
Your driver-guide will shape the day around your preference, ensuring everything flows easily.

Day 7: Ashford Castle, Co. Mayo, Ireland
Your journey continues through Connemara, one of Ireland’s most scenic regions.
There is time to pause along the way — perhaps at Kylemore Abbey or along the Sky Road — before arriving at Ashford Castle for a two-night stay.
The afternoon is yours to settle in and begin enjoying the estate.

Day 8: Ashford Castle, Co. Mayo, Ireland
Today is yours to enjoy Ashford Castle and its surroundings.
Activities can be arranged in advance or decided on the day — from falconry and fishing to boating on the lake or simply taking time to relax within the estate.
For those who prefer to explore further, nearby villages and walking routes offer additional options.

Day 9: Markree Castle, Co Sligo, Ireland
Travel north toward Sligo, with the option to stop in Westport or along the coast depending on your pace.
For those interested, Croagh Patrick offers a more active experience, while others may prefer a more relaxed route.
Arrive at Markree Castle in the evening and enjoy a quieter, more intimate setting.

Day 10 — Lough Eske Castle, County Donegal
Your journey continues further north into Donegal, a region known for its rugged coastline and quieter landscapes.
Along the way, you may choose to stop in Sligo or at Strandhill for a walk along the beach, or simply enjoy a more direct route depending on your pace.
Arrive at Lough Eske Castle, set within a secluded woodland estate on the edge of the lake. The remainder of the day is yours to settle in and enjoy the surroundings.

Day 11 —Lough Eske Castle, County Donegal
Today is left open to explore this lesser-travelled part of Ireland.
Options may include time along the Donegal coastline, visiting nearby villages, or simply enjoying the grounds and facilities of the castle.
For those interested, additional experiences can be arranged in advance or during your stay.

Day 12: Ballygally Castle, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland
Continue north into Northern Ireland.
Along the way, there are opportunities to stop in Derry or continue directly to the Antrim Coast, where you may explore sites such as Dunluce Castle and the Giant’s Causeway.
Arrive at Ballygally Castle, set along the coast with views across the Irish Sea.

Day 13: Castle Leslie, Co. Monaghan, Ireland
This morning, you may choose to spend time in Belfast — perhaps with a private city tour or a visit to the Titanic Quarter — before continuing south.
Arrive at Castle Leslie, set within a private estate in County Monaghan, for your evening stay.

Day 14: Carton House, Dublin, Ireland
Return toward Dublin, with the option to stop in the Boyne Valley.
Visits here may include Newgrange or Knowth, as well as the Hill of Tara, depending on your interests.
Arrive at Carton House for your final night.

Day 13: Depart Ireland for Home
Your driver-guide will arrange your transfer to Dublin Airport, ensuring a smooth and timely departure.

What This Approach Changes
Staying in castles as part of a privately guided journey allows you to experience them differently.
There is no need to rush between properties or treat them as standalone stays. Instead, each one becomes part of a considered journey — with time to enjoy the setting, the surroundings, and the experience itself.

Investment Guide
As each journey is designed from the ground up, pricing varies depending on length, accommodation, and level of access.
Castle-focused journeys typically begin from approximately $20,000 per couple (or solo traveller), with iconic properties such as Ashford Castle, Adare Manor, and Dromoland Castle influencing overall investment.
For those including multiple castle stays, peak season travel, or additional private experiences, pricing will increase accordingly.
In some cases — particularly for more complex itineraries or exclusive-use castle stays — a planning fee may apply. This will always be discussed in advance.
We’ll always guide you toward the right approach based on how you want to travel.
